Quite the start to the baseball season. We go 2-2 against below average competition and do so in very disappointing fashion.
And today we beat #7 Vanderbilt in extra innings. I was listening to some of the game and worried it was over after they had a lead off home run.

I was watching most of the game (SEC Network and WatchESPN.com). When we blew the 3-1 lead with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th inning, my first thought was, "here we friggin' go again" for the 3rd time in 5 games. I turned off the game.
What an unbelievable surprise when I returned a half hour later to see how the game ended. We definitely had one of these coming. I believe last year, when Vandy was ranked #3, we blew a lead in the 9th inning and lost.
BTW, Sunday's game is also televised on those same outlets I mentioned.

I listened to the game as well as I'm not subscribed to the SEC Network. Hopefully they can get one of the next two in Commodore Country!

Sam here - couldn't watch since it was on SEC and not ESPN3
Games 2-3 are usually the difference maker between top teams and the rest. Starting pitching depth really plays a role. Currently down 6-1 in the top of the 7th. Not over yet and there is still tomorrow also but that would be very nice. Not sure we've ever won a series against a ranked team.

I viewed the game on WatchESPN.com
They bring up a drop-drown box where you click on your cable provider; mine is XfinityComcast, but there were tons of other choices.

Yep. I tried that. I have Xfinity as well but after clicking on it and it goes to where the video usually starts playing it says I don't have that package (SEC Network).
I only have the basic sports.
Couldn't pull out today. Would love a W tomorrow!

Couldn't pull out today. Would love a W tomorrow! Though we lost, keep your eye on a pitcher named Jacob Key. The kid is a freshman and he pitched 4.1 innings of one-run ball in the loss today. He has now given up only 2 ER in 11.1 innings for an ERA of 1.59. Obviously, it's way early, but Dee was gushing about the kid even before the season started.
Hope none of the big boys steal him from us after this year (it's happened before!)

Excellent. Hope the kid keeps it up and, as you said, sticks at UIC to do it.
I think the worst for me was a player by the name of Mark Hallberg. I'd say he was at UIC about 2005 or so. Wisconsin player of the year. First team all HL both FR and SOPH years and then transferred to Florida State.
We've had some good teams the past few years but those mid 2000 teams had some real talent especially when it came to drafts and that's not just Curtis Granderson.
Asking a lot but let's have another Granderson as a reminder that can make it to the bog leagues out of UIC.

Pretty late to the party, but I was so happy when I saw that we beat #7 ranked Vandy in a series. Taking the series 2-1 against a top 10 is something to hang our hat on.
