Just saw this on the Baseball team's Twitter account: UIC is currently #1 in the country in Fielding Percentage.
Might not sound like a big deal and may not last long, but still a great achievement halfway through the season. What makes it especially nice is the fact that only a few years ago, our defense was the worst aspect of our team, averaging almost 2 errors per game.
Go Flames!!!

The team has a lot of nice stats going on; - Overall team ERA is 13th in the NCAA - The staff's 5 shut-outs ranks 9th - Only 5 errors in the last 16 games - Over-all fielding percentage of 0.985

Much more important than that, for the 2nd consecutive weekend, we have road series moved to Granderson Stadium due to unplayable field conditions in Milwaukee and Oakland. We'll still be the "visiting" team so far as who bats last, but for the most part, these 2 switches have resulted in us having 6 extra home games. Another huge advantage of us playing on an artificial surface.
