We had a game on MLB network today. Scored 8 runs in the top of the 9th and ended up winning 9-5. Very nice comeback. Also interesting was Granderson was a guest in the announcer booth during the 3rd and 4th innings. He mentioned how Dee told him that he wanted to coach with GrAndy at UIC at least 1 year before Dee retires. Grandy did not sound at all interested in coaching, but wouldn’t that be something? He also mentioned that 5 of the 6 draftees (all but Rob Calabrese) still come back and work out at UIC. It’s great to have these guys around. Curtis seemed very familiar with some of the players...their backgrounds, their academics. Pretty cool. Would love to see him coach here one day if that’s what he wants to do.

First of all how awesome to see UIC baseball on TV? I only caught the first three innings but saw an amazing double play and the Curtis interview. UIC really hit a home run (pun intended) with Curtis. We need ALL of our alums to love UIC as much as he and we do. He is still so involved with the team it’s amazing. As Bog D said he’s still around the campus to work out and knows the players. He was even talking about how he was helping get one an internship. Amazing guy!
They were also talking well about UIC. Mentikned them being the top defensive team in the nation a few times.
An amazing comeback that I unfortunately missed (followed on Twitter). Since Calabrese is from NY I won’t hold it against him that he doesn’t still workout here. I love hearing how players still come back and give back. Just a lot of pride in that program! Others should strive for that (and I’m not saying they don’t have a lot of that also-I just don’t necessarily know about it).

Agree with everything about Granderson. Wonderful person & ambassador for UIC!
It was pretty sweet turning on the TV and seeing UIC baseball. Hopefully they have another great year and we see them on a NCAA regional in a few months.
