Offer: Nojus Indrusaitis (2024) Height: 6’5 HS: Lemont Grassroots: Meanstreets Position: Shooting Guard Calling Card: Microwave Current Offers: Maryland, UIC, Easter Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois I saw an interview with this dude on YouTube. I don't believe he's interested in UIC. When the interviewer asked him what schools were recruiting him, he ran down a list and one of them was "ICU". That was it for me. If a recruit doesn't even take the time to get your acronym right, he's not truly considering you.

I also believe we need to be recruiting players 6'4" and above. We need height moving forward. Big guards and rim protectors. 6'0" and 6'2" guys aren't gonna cut it in the MVC unless they're phenomenal!

Agreed. I haven’t seen anything regarding any offers since the announcement though so not sure what our plan is at the moment.
Did someone say the next signing period is in April? Players can give a commitment between now and then but that’s the signing day, correct?
Is this typically a quiet time since we are in the middle of the season? Because MVC or not we have a lot of holes to fill in terms of skill and in players.

Does Yak realize you need size to compete in the MVC?

One other thing I've noticed with this list. There is not one MVC team that's interested in these players. I see that Nojus kid has some B1G interest but that's pretty much it. The Flames need to be recruiting no less than 3-star players. I understand since recruiting is not an exact science and some guys can go up and down in some analysts eyes, a listed 2-star recruit could actually develop into a 3 or even 4-star talent. That's where the talent evaluation I mentioned before comes in. When all is said and done, Coach Yak needs to comes into '22-'23 with a Valley-ready Class.

At this current time, our only signed recruit, Jalen Jackson, has had his high school career officially end as his team lost 72-69 in their high school playoff game.
Jackson had a heck of a year averaging 27.6 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 2 APG, and 2.4 StlG
Although he is rated as a 2 star recruit, and don't expect that to change as he is committed to us since September, have seen articles naming him a possible finalist for Mr. Basketball in Indiana and a top-10 player in the state after this past year. Have read he is a quick, up-tempo player that can drive and shoot.
On top of that, he literally posted the next day after their loss of him in a Flames uniform and getting ready for next year. Love the excitement and commitment. Seems like he could be a real difference maker.

I watched Jalen’s sectional semifinal (two games ago). Strong kid; body looks ready to contribute as a freshman. He’s very active on the glass and can finish with contact, but it seems like he is playing against lesser/smaller competition (at least during that game). Maybe he just was that much better. Who knows. Will be curious to see how he adapts to bigger/stronger competition.
All I know is I watched Loyola/Drake in the Valley final, and we are a LONG way from that. Loyola’s defense was outstanding and helped them to a 21-0 run. It would’ve been a 42-0 run against us. Drake fought until the end.
We need some players in here.

I did look up that Indiana has 4 classes in basketball and that his team is in Class 4 so not sure about game to game competition but playing against the largest schools in the state. Was interesting to see that he almost averaged 10 RPG but a pretty low APG average for a PG.

Offer:
Cameron Fens Height: 6'10" Weight: 255 lbs High School: Hempstead (Dubuque, Iowa) Position: Center Current offers: UIC, Western Illinois Also getting interest from Iowa, Creighton, and Northern Iowa
The 6'10" Center took an official visit to UIC this week. We offered him earlier this month. Has taken an unofficial visit to Iowa but no offer. Not sure if he is waiting to see if any other bigger offers come through. Was just named 1st Team All State in Iowa. Averaged just over 19 PPG this past season.
We know we have lacked size and this would be an excellent pickup for us. For what it is worth, he Tweeted that he took an official visit to UIC and our signed recruit, Jalen Jackson, commented on it. Not sure if there is other connection these two have.

Man that would be absolutely huge to get a big man. That is what they have been lacking for years. Maybe he wants to get out of Iowa.

I look at that as a must-get type of recruit right now.
