With the UIC women falling to Milwaukee in the HL tourney tonight, it’s time to speculate on head coach Tasha Pointer’s future with the team.
Has there ever been a more clear cut case of being in over your head?
Look at these numbers:
Records ‘18-19: 2-25 (20-game losing streak to end the season) ‘19-20: 3-27 (9-game losing streak to end the season) ‘20-21: 3-16 (7-game losing streak to end the season) ‘21-22: 2-25 (20-game losing streak to end the season)
That is 10 wins in 4 years! This is one of the greatest hiring disasters in UIC history. It is time to move on and see if we can attract some better coaching talent as a new Valley member.

Without question this team is going into the Valley with a new Head Coach. A no brainer.

Feel bad for the kids, how many will get pushed out, hit transfer portal once pointer is fired. Whole staff including the garbage guy needs to go from that staff. Been so bad you can not even have one holdover. When McClain got fired we kept Dee Brown. We can't do that here. Need a total gut job.

Pretty much all of the factors that we point out make men’s basketball a good destination are also there for the women’s. City. Academics. Good talent pool. We can talk about the disappointment of the men’s basketball team but the women’s team is atrocious.
Hope they can turn it around. Have a few signed for next year and always wonder what that means with a new hire.

It means the new hire will have a team meeting to get to know the players and have them know her/him. The coach will give their vision of the future of the program and re-recruit some and hopefully they sign or stay signed. Some others he/she will release.
