UIC opens the season with a 10-8 win over St. Mary's! UIC got down early as St. Mary's put up 3 runs in the first but responded with 4 runs the next inning.
They have a doubleheader with the next game later today followed by a game tomorrow and Sunday.

St. Mary's takes one of the series and wins the finale 8-1.
We are 3-1 on the season and head to Nashville to take on Lipscomb who is also 3-1. They defeated Notre Dame twice (with one loss) last weekend and defeated Southern Indiana yesterday.

UIC wins!
They improve to 4-1 win a 7-5 victory of Lipscomb (3-2).
Kade Lancour was fantastic on the mound going 6.2 IP, 2 ER on just 5 hits. UIC got out to a 7-1 lead and they made a run against the bullpen but held on for a 7-5 victory.
Two more games in the series as they'll resume tomorrow afternoon.

Ugh.
UIC loses 9-8. Up 8-6 going into the 9th and they win on a walk off 3 run HR.
The offense seems to be all good but the pitching needs to figure it out. Great start yesterday but the rest leaves a lot to be desired especially the bullpen.

Congrats to the Flames on their first MVC home win as they topped a very solid Indiana Stare program 10-7.

Baseball is currently on a 4-game win streak as it heads to Bloomington-Normal for a 3-game set with the Redbirds. UIC just swept Belmont and won the season series with B1G foe Purdue. Flames are 23-21 overall and 9-12 in the MVC. Top 8 teams go to the Valley Tournament.

Would like to add that UIC now has a 5-1 record against B1G teams, with 2 wins over Northwestern, 2 over Purdue, and 1 against Iowa. They have 1 more game against a B1G team next week (@iowa). According to WarrenNolan (apparently the college baseball equivalent of KenPom), Iowa has a RPI of 39 (UIC is 141). We beat Iowa earlier this season 14-3 in 7 innings. Purdue came into Wednesday's game with a conference record of 10-8. Not too bad for our first year in the MVC, and certainly able to hold our own against the B1G. Also, Indiana State leads the MVC and has a RPI of 7.

So we sweep the series with Illinois State to get to .500 in the MVC at 12-12. If we take 2 of 3 in our next series against Evansville, we would finish in a tie for 4th place in the MVC at 14-13, same as Evansville, who is currently ahead of us at 13-11. Since we would take the series against Evansville, I assume we would get the 4th place seed. Murray State is tied with us at 12-12. They would have to sweep their series against SIU to finish ahead of us (assuming we take 2 of 3 from Evansville). If they finish with the same record as UIC, I assume we would get the higher seed over them, since we took the series against them. Bottom line, I think UIC controls their own destiny next weekend to finish in 4th place in the MVC. Not too bad for our first year in a 10-team conference that ranks 10th in all of D1 baseball.

UIC defeats Belmont 10-5 in their first game of the MVC Tournament.
They will play #1 seed Indiana State tomorrow (Wednesday). We went 1-2 vs. Indiana State this year. They finished the season #10 in NCAA baseball in RPI. They finished the season strong and only lost 3 MVC games. However, we've shown we can beat them. Let's get it done tomorrow.

I thought the standard for replay was you needed clear evidence contrary to the call to overturn. UIC was just on the wrong end of a very questionable call. Bases loaded for ISUb and a hit to left field was called foul. Maybe they have better replays, but the one they kept showing was not enough to overturn the call on the field. No way. Anyway, as you may have guessed…it was reversed and 3 runs scored. UIC now down 7-4…pitching has been a real letdown.
If you have other video you’re looking at to decide critical plays, show the fans. Otherwise, just seems like a rigged call to me.
