And Big D -
Yes! Cheaper tickets are $18!
There was a ‘special’ on Instagram for tickets that were $20.24. Didn’t buy them because got to the box office and there were cheaper ones. Cheaper than the deal they paid to advertise!
Pathetic.
And we just sat where we we wanted anyways.

Yeah, why are they purposely being deceptive, like 20.24 is a deal.
For anyone looking to go to a game, only buy the cheapest tix at the box office. Avoid Ticketmaster and these bogus deals. Sit wherever you want.
The beer/merch prices are the real crime against humanity in there though.

Yep - $12 for a Michelob Ultra was outrageous.
And the Lagunitas Lounge was gone. Damn! The area where it was hosted a Valpo alumni night when I was there. Awesome. More away fans as usual.
Bradley fans were already calling it Peoria North…

We have to be the only team in the country that makes it easy for opponents to congregate at CU1. I constantly see opposing fans in front row seats, full parties in the dragon’s den, and in the lounge like you said UICJohn…wtf are we doing? Wins? Who cares as long as money is coming in.

My question is why no one is calling for the AD job also. Why just Yaklich. Softball started 0-38 last year. Baseball is .500 or below. Soccer teams havent gone to NCAA tournament in years like Horizon League years. Basketball sucks. Women basketball finished 6th in valley play last year and not back to.500... there 18 d1 sports at UIC. AD been at uic like 6 years with 1 volleyball ncaa tournament and was 1 and done. That's like 1-112 in post season births.
Then you can look at Basketball attendance, staff turnover at all time high. Terrible stadium gift giveaways.
Seems like the whole dumpster is on fire right now not just men basketball...

Michael Lipitz was also extended through 2026. Looks like if we want change we'll have to wait for it unfortunately.

Lipitz handled the MVC move nicely, so he gets a little extra time from me. But yeah, just not enough winning. New chancellor now that used to work for Coach K. Perhaps she will be looking to make a switch at some point.

And the new Chancellor has been at a TON of basketball games, both men’s and women’s. So feel she sees first hand the state of the program.

Speaking of ticket prices, I don’t think any team tweets about ticket deals more than UIC. I feel like every non gameday they are posting about some “deal”. No one is paying $20 to watch subpar basketball at an outdated arena with little to no amenities.

And maybe some REAL deals
Alumni Night - $5 tickets Kids Night - $5 kids ticket Food Drive Night - $5 ticket with food donation
Something! Because my little guy wants to go to a game and that’s $40 (might just get two of those court side seats to give him a cool experience, ha.)
But we just put out a Instagram post and expect people to flock.
Loyola can get a few thousand and many students. It can be done (yes, I know of the Final 4 run and all)

What is UIC doing to advertise to new fans? Posts to their Twitter/Instagram/Facebook pages are only advertising to people who are already aware of the team. They keep advertising their deals/ promotions to the same 6000 people. If those people wanted to buy tickets for $20, they would’ve done it already.

They gave out free tickets for the first game of the season against Arkansas-Little Rock.

Yes, basically UIC's Homecoming. Actually had a staff member call to offer the tickets. Couldn't say no, obviously. The team had such energy that game (and another game I attended, the Western Michigan game). Even though the crowd was small for WMU, CU1 arena itself had a lot of energy that day. I remembered wondering what would this place be like if they could get just the lower bowl filled. The students are the most disappointing, always seem to be a lot of alumni at the games, just nothing in the student section. And literally the largest dorm on campus is one block down Harrison. SMH.

The team is the most disappointing. Why would students go? To see a bad team every week? We can barely beat valpo, why should I as a student waste my time with a bad team? Cant have fans without a successful team ( Drake, Bradley) or recent success (Loyola, Murray State) Fans just aren't going to pop out of nowhere with such a bad team.
