Goveybaseball, I don't disagree at all, but given the current situation, short term, UIC will unlikely be able to land someone ready to play MVC ball right out of high school, as we have seen this past season. Like I said, personally I think Yak's best bet is to build on the 5 guys I mentioned earlier if they can't land a guard or two out of the portal and possibly another big. Anyone who thinks the transfer portal is not going to have a tremendous impact on overall recruiting is insane. Conferences and teams are going to be stacked and the lower level conferences will pick up the scraps.

This upcoming season will be the last of the extra Covid year. After that, the NCAA will go back to some semblance of sanity. Players will have to sit again upon transferring (unless you're a graduate). This will allow coaches to incorporate more freshmen into their respective programs. The NIL monies and collectives will be there and that's something the mid-majors will have to deal with. You can only spend what you have.
Yak has 3 more years to prove himself as the coach to get this program to The Dance since 2004. And AD Lipitz and the University has about that much time to prove to us that they will indeed invest in the program to compete in the Valley.

Will teams/NCAA enforce that second transfer rule? That’s the question. Or will every player trying to transfer twice just claim hardship? We will see.
Let’s get some of these portal guys to commit already so we have some players to talk about!

Players will have to sit again upon transferring (unless you're a graduate). Chuck, I thought this was a permanent change. Going forward, anyone can transfer once without sitting. It is the 2nd transfer that requires you to sit a year. I never thought this was temporary policy due to Covid.

That one is a bit of a suprise, I thought he would have landed at Ole Miss or Michigan State. Either way huge step up for him and wish him the best.
